After successfully starting her own nonprofit, goods for good, Melissa Kushner found a real need for a way for nonprofits to collaborate and join forces (TEDx talk here). There is a lot of repetition of efforts in the nonprofit world and she knew that if she could get the right heads together, nonprofits wouldn't have to keep recreating the wheel. With the collaboration of a few smart people, nonprofit-share was born, a way for nonprofits to search for other nonprofits. The idea was originally for nonprofits to connect by "haves" and "needs," but after a little user research, we discovered that what they really needed to search by was location, cause and population in order to create effective partnerships.
